Varghese Summersett is a criminal defense and family law firm. Varghese Summersett PLLC is the criminal division; Varghese Summersett Family Law Group is the family law practice. Both divisions are based in downtown Fort Worth on the 16th floor of the gorgeous One City Place Building. What You’ll Do

The family lawyer will be responsible for all aspects of family law litigation and will:

    • Handle a high caseload of family law cases from start to finish

    • Conduct potential client interviews and develop strategies for each case

    • Prepare cases for mediation, hearings, and trial

    • Handle discovery, including requests for production of documents, depositions, and interrogatories

    • Review pleadings, motions, and orders

    • Conduct legal research as needed

    • Maintain excellent client communication and develop strong relationships with clients and court personnel

    • Positively represent our firm and brand in court, in the community, and online

What You Need

    • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school

    • Admission to the State Bar of Texas

    • Ideally, 2-5 years of family law experience 

    • A passion to be outstanding

Family Law Paralegal

We are looking for a full-time Family Law Paralegal. The candidate must have a positive attitude and enjoy customer service. We are not your average law firm. We are a tight-knit group and we all watch out for one another. We work hard and have fun. We’re very focused on maintaining the great and supportive work environment we have in place. We’re looking for a true team player.

The Family Law Paralegal will be the first point of contact with all callers and visitors, including potential and current clients, so exceptional phone skills and demeanor is a must. The client relations specialist will also be responsible for numerous administrative duties and must be able to multitask in a high-pressure environment. The right person must be passionate about working in the legal industry and be able to work as a team, as well as independently. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Daily Job Duties:

 

    • Answer a high volume of incoming calls to the firm, maintaining excellent customer service at all times.

    • Promptly respond to client questions and messages by phone, email or through our case management platform.

    • Contact clients about court settings, payments, case progression, and reviews.

    • Maintain and update documents related to client accounts.

    • Coordinate calls, meetings, and communications between attorneys and clients and potential clients.

    • Follow-up on all overnight or missed calls intercepted by the answering service in a timely manner.

    • Promptly follow up with potential clients.

    • Maintain attorneys’ schedules and calendars.

    • Draft and e-file letters and motions on behalf of attorneys.

    • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and patiently guide them through a difficult process.

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with court staff.

    • Ensure that our office and common areas are clean and presentable at all times.

    • Positively represent our brand and firm/

    • Assist marketing team in developing marketing materials and proposals

Desired Qualifications:

 

    • Bachelor’s degree or proven experience in client relations

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficient computer skills

    • Friendly and welcoming personality

    • Problem-solving aptitude

    • Excellent telephone etiquette

    • Excellent customer/client service skills

    • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Intake Specialist

Varghese Summersett is looking for a motivated, self-starter with exceptional communications skills to join our intake team. The position’s focus is to confidently present information about our criminal defense practice and attorneys to potential clients with the goal of encouraging the decision to hire our firm. This position requires strong communication skills by phone, text, email and through our secure client portal. Our intake specialists must be able to manage a high call volume and work effectively on a deadline.

Daily Job Duties:

    • Answer a high volume of incoming calls to the firm, maintaining excellent customer service at all times.

    • Promptly respond to potential client questions and messages by phone, email or through our case management platform.

    • Follow-up potential clients about firm representation.

    • Maintain and update statistics related to potential new client intakes.

    • Coordinate calls, meetings, and communications between attorneys and potential clients to facilitate representation.

    • Follow-up on all overnight or missed calls for potential new clients intercepted by the answering service in a timely manner.

    • Coordinate potential client meetings with attorneys’ schedules and calendars.

    • Draft and upload letters of engagement.

    • Build and maintain trusted relationships with potential clients and patiently guide them through a difficult process.

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with firm staff.

    • Positively represent our brand and firm.

    • Assist processes team with updating and streamlining the intake process.

    • Continued sales training is required.

Legal Internships

Internships offer the opportunity to work with our career trial attorneys and assist clients who are facing the biggest problems in their lives. Outstanding law students and undergraduate students on the pre-law track come to Varghese Summersett for the opportunity to train with our attorneys. Interns perform a variety of tasks ranging from research to assisting with trial prep. We offer paid positions throughout the year. Interns typically work around 20 hours a week during the spring and fall semesters and up to 30 hours a week during the summer.

Turner Thornton is a well-known family law attorney in Fort Worth who leads the Varghese Summersett Family Law Group.
